The Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 930 is one of the most innovative robotic vacuum cleaners on the market today. It comes packed with a full suite of unique features and cleaning functionalities rarely found in many robot vacuums out there. These reasons and much more as we’ve detailed below in this Deebot Ozmo 930 review, make it a very attractive option for anyone looking for a versatile, high tech vacuum.
Regardless of the kind of mess or the type of floor you have, the Deebot Ozmo 930 is well designed and equipped to deal with it.
The unit utilizes a three-stage cleaning system comprising of the main brush, two side brushes, and the suction path. The cleaning system has been tweaked further with the addition of a mopping function creating a hybrid system that offers superior cleaning experience.
The first stage consists of a rotating brush bar that sits underneath the vacuum and its designed to comb through the fibers of carpets to loosen dirt.
The second stage is made up of two rotating side brushes which collect dirt and debris from corners and edges and push them under the vacuum where they are sucked up.
The third stage is the suction which comprises a motor located at the center and sucks up all the dirt, dust, and debris into the collection bin. Unlike most other robot vacuums, this model features two types of suction inlets.
There are a suction-only attachment and the usual brush roll. Therefore, you get to choose the appropriate suction inlet based on the floor type and the kind of dirt you want the unit to pick up.
The last stage is the mopping function for wet mopping bare floors. It consists of a mop cloth, an electronically-controlled water pump, and sensors that monitor the water flow.
Many robot cleaners lack this additional stage, so it’s a big plus to have it as it makes the Ozmo 930 a complete cleaning system that can effectively handle a wide variety of messes.
In this section of our Deebot Ozmo 930 review, we will look at how this robot vacuum copes with various types of floors.
As mentioned above, this Ecovacs robot vacuum has two main cleaning tools, the center brush roll bar and the dual side brushes both of which rotate and are detachable. The former has stiff bristles while the latter consists of long, soft, flexible bristles.
The Deebot Ozmo 930 performs remarkably well when it comes to cleaning carpeted floors. The unit utilizes the spinning brush bar underneath it as the main cleaning tool for carpets.
The brush rotates consistently allowing its stiff bristles to dig deep into the carpet and agitate the fibers to loosen and remove deeply embedded dirt and dust for easier pick-up.
The brush roll is very effective in low and medium-pile carpets. It can also work fairly well on high pile carpeting although it won’t clean as deep. It might get a little stuck sometimes but won’t get tangled in the carpet’s fibers.
The side brushes, on the other hand, help fluff the carpet and removing dirt from the edges. However, you might have to remove them if you are cleaning a high pile carpet as they are likely to bend due to their soft, long bristles.
They do well on low-pile carpets and are quite helpful especially when dealing with wall-to-wall carpets.
The suction capability of this Ecovacs model is also really commendable. Equipped with a 3, 200 mAh Lithium-Ion battery and a 14V, 0.8A motor, the unit is very powerful and delivers a strong suction power that enables deep cleaning on both thin and medium carpets.
It can achieve up to 1000 Pa suction on average which is sufficient to lift all the dislodged dirt and debris from your carpet.
What makes this unit even more effective at cleaning carpets is the incorporation of the Ecovacs carpet detection technology which is a floor sensing technology.
Most vacuums tend to approach different types of floors in the same manner and as such, they end up not yielding the same results. However, the carpet detection technology of this Deebot Ozmo 930 allows it to adjust its cleaning power based on the floor type.
Once the sensors detect that the unit is on a carpet, the system automatically boosts the suction power and the brush speed hence facilitating a much deeper cleaning on your carpeted floor.
This function does not make a lot of sense but it’s also quite essential considering that it takes more power and time to get rid of dirt from a carpet compared to a hard floor.
The performance of the Deebot Ozmo 930 on hard floors is equally impressive. It utilizes the two rotating side brushes which sweep the edges, corners, and baseboards to gather dirt, debris, and dust into the center under the vacuum where they sucked up into the dirt bin.
The brushes efficiently squeeze into gaps between furniture and are very effective at clearing dirt in hard-to-reach areas on hard floors.
However, the suction power is a bit low than when it’s on carpet floors but it’s just enough to lift all dust and dirt from hard floors.
To ensure a much thorough cleaning on hardwood floors, Ecovacs has equipped this model with an efficient mopping function which consists of a mopping cloth, a small water tank, and an electronically-controlled water pump.
This is a function that lacks in most similar machines and it’s what allows the Ecovacs Ozmo 930 to deliver superior cleaning performance on hard floors.
Once the mopping mode is activated, the unit will perform the dry cleaning and vacuum the floor and when it’s done, it will automatically switch to the wet function.
The mop is made up of a microfiber cloth and receives water from the water tank located on the side of the unit. The system dispenses enough water to moisten the cloth and clean the floor surface without leaving any puddles behind it.
The cloth works flawlessly and doesn’t touch the surface with too much pressure such that it would leave marks around. It performs a light mop, so it’s gentle and ideal for use on delicate surfaces like hardwood floors.
The best part is that you can control the amount of water flowing onto the cloth. The electronic pump features 4 settings that allow you to set the level of wetness you want which is essential especially when dealing with delicate wooden floors.
What’s more, the mopping system utilizes the floor sensing technology to identify areas with carpets or rugs and automatically avoids them and continue with its mopping process on hard floors.
Pet owners too will appreciate this Ecovacs robot vacuum so much as it does a great job in removing most pet hair and dander on both hardwood and carpet floors.
For hardwood floors, the suction-only inlet proves to be reliable due to its strong suction. It picks up pet hair on bare floors so well and since it’s brushless, it collects hairs without tangling.
As for carpeted floors, the main brush roll does well in picking up all the pet hairs as it combs through the fibers of the carpet. Therefore, if your pets shed hairs a lot, then you will little to worry about whether you have hardwood and carpet floor.
Furthermore, the Ecovacs provides a cleaning tool with a razor that you can use to remove hairs that might end up wrapped around the main brush roll.
Generally, the cleaning performance of this model is indeed impressive on hard floors and removing pet hairs. It’s also superb when it comes to carpets that are a low and medium pile.
Ecovacs Ozmo 930 has a low profile measuring only about 4 inches tall which means it will easily glide under chairs, tables, and other furniture. It has no problem crossing small to medium thresholds as well. This robot vacuum can comfortably climb flooring transitions with a thickness of 0.7 inches.
One of the main things that make the Deebot Ozmo 930 stand out as an excellent smart robotic vacuum cleaner is its Smart Navi 3.0 Technology.
This is quite an advanced navigation system and the latest version in Ecovacs iteration. It utilizes a Laser Distance Sensor (LDS) which enables the unit to skillfully navigate and scan each room upon which it creates a digital map based on the floor plan of your house.
From there, the unit automatically plans the most efficient cleaning course to adapt and the map essentially becomes its reference of movement.
It is this high-tech navigation technology that makes the Ecovacs Ozmo 930 easy to navigate as it recognizes and adapts to your home just as you do.
Note that it’s one thing for a robot vacuum cleaner to know its way around the house and it’s a totally different thing for it to move precisely. The vacuum follows a serpentine pattern which is programmed into its smart navigation system.
This is a back and forth S-type movement style and the good thing about it is that it makes sure that the machine move with more focus and precision hence it’s able to cover the entire floor space.
This means that your home gets a much thorough cleaning as there are no dirt patches that are missed as when using robot cleaners that follow a random pattern.
Another commendable thing about this purposeful movement is that the fact that the robots know exactly how much and where it has cleaned helps it to better manage power. It won’t be passing over areas of the floor that it has already cleaned.
Moreover, the map is interactive hence you can customize it as you please. You can assign cleaning tasks and monitor the actual position of the machine or even check the cleaning status.
Aside from its excellent navigation, this robot vacuum is not going to tumble downstairs either as it’s incorporated with infrared anti-fall as well as anti-collision sensors that allow it to detect changes in floor heights.
The unit will simply stop and turn around as soon as the sensors detect that it’s closer to the edge of steps or the floor ahead is lower compared to where it is. This is how it gets to avoid tumbling down the stairs.
Furthermore, the LDS navigation together with the anti-collision sensors helps the unit detect objects on its path so that it slows down and avoid running into them.
It’s capable of identifying if there’s space underneath or around the obstacle and if there is, it will go in and do the cleaning. This is basically how it’s able to get under furniture and perform extensive cleaning.
Moreover, the front part has a cushion bumper which runs around half of the body. It acts as shock absorbers should it bump into the walls.
There are parts of the house you may not want the vacuum to get to and Ecovacs have included a virtual boundary function in this Deebot Ozmo 930 model to address this.
With this feature in place, you can define virtual boundaries from the map or specify particular areas where the machine should or shouldn’t go. The boundaries serve as some kind of mental obstacle to the robot.
Once it gets to them, it will just turn back like it has encountered a wall there. The best part is that you don’t have to wait for the machine to stop to set the boundary. You can define it while it’s at work.
With this machine, you have three different cleaning modes to choose from based on your preference. You can set it to automatic mode when you want to do general cleaning and let it decide for itself the ideal method of getting your floor space clean.
If you want to prioritize certain areas of your home like a particular room, then you can switch to area cleaning mode which allows you to instruct the robot to focus only on designated areas.
You can also set it to a spot mode for a much more targeted cleaning. If for instance you’ve spilled something on the floor and don’t want to clean the whole room, this mode will enable the machine to concentrate around that spot. It will pass over the spot many times to perform a more thorough cleaning.

The amazing thing about this unit is that it’s compatible with the Ecovacs app which gives you total control over it in your hands.
From the app, you can control the machine anytime, anywhere. You can set cleaning modes, the virtual boundary line, check the battery charge remaining, monitor the cleaning status, and even be able to see, in real-time, the precise location of the robot.
The created map of your home’s floor plan is also sent to the app where you can view and customize it via your mobile device.
The Deebot Ozmo 930 features a time scheduling function too to allow you to plan your cleaning in advance. This feature is also accessible via the Ecovacs app and it’s much similar to a phone’s alarm setting area in terms of looks and how it works.
You can set specific days, times, and frequency for cleaning, and forget. From there, the robot will do its thing based on the schedule while you are away.
The app works with all iOS and Android devices. There are no complications, you simply download it on your phone or tablet and you are good to go.
The automation of this Ecovacs robot vacuum does not just stop at its app control capability. It’s fully compatible with other smart home technologies, particularly Amazon Alexa and Google Home.
You can link it up to Google Home or Alexa and include it in your smart home hub where you will be able to simply give it commands using your voice to control the cleaning operations.
The robot is fairly responsive and will listen to Alexa or Google Assistant and act effectively according to the instructions. Coupled with the Ecovacs app, you will no doubt get to enjoy and appreciate all the convenience of an automated cleaner that this model offers.
With the dirt bin having the capacity to hold around 470 ml of dry debris, it’s adequate for cleaning small to average homes but it if you have a large home then it can be a disadvantage.
You will need to empty it too often probably after every vacuuming session. However, it slips out easily and has a convenient handle for lifting it, so removing and emptying it is no hustle at all.
The filter, on the other hand, is not HEPA certified but it’s a high-efficiency filter. Most robot vacuums for some reason seem to skip the HEPA certification process and this Deebot 930 model is no different.
The good news though is that it uses a highly efficient filter that’s capable of trapping allergens and fine particles down to about 3 microns in size. In other words, it’s as effective as the HEPA certified filters. It’s only that it lacks the certification.
Therefore, if you are asthmatic or suffer from allergies, then you don’t have much to worry about as you can safely rely on this filter to keep the air within your surroundings clean. It will capture over 90% of allergens as well as dust.
The only downside is that it’s not washable. You will have to replace it once it becomes clogged with dirt which is not hard either because it comes out easily.
Plus Ecovacs have included a spare filter in the package to give you some leverage before you have to purchase another set. Moreover, the unit is designed to alert you when the filter requires changing, so you won’t get caught off-guard.
Ecovacs didn’t cut corners either as far as the battery is concerned. Like we mentioned earlier in this Deebot Ozmo 930 review, the vacuum is equipped with 3,200 mAh Lithium-ion battery.
This is a high-capacity battery that’s capable of powering the unit for up to two hours when fully charged which is a lot of time, just enough to clean almost all rooms of a spacious house.
The recharge times are also fairly decent. It takes 3 to 4 hours for the battery to get fully charged which is shorter compared to what many other similar robot vacuums offer.
Even much better, the unit can automatically recharge and resume cleaning. When you activate the continuous cleaning mode, it will go back to the charging dock when the battery is low, dock itself and recharge.
After charging, it will return to the exact place where it last cleaned and carry on with the cleaning in case it didn’t manage to cover everywhere it was supposed to clean.
It’s smart enough such that routine interruptions don’t affect its work and it will continue with the cleaning session without any hitches.
While controlling the vacuum has been made much easier and more convenient with the Ecovac’s app, it still gives you the option to control it manually.
The unit comes with onboard controls consisting of only a single button meant for power/auto and nothing more.
Therefore, if you don’t want much hustle, you can easily start or set the vacuum going without using the app. In addition, you can use the button to pause the cleaning process should you need to.
However, all the other controls rely heavily on the app, so you might not control it manually as much plus the app gives you access to a lot of options and data.
Although the Ecovacs app offers a high level of convenience than other means, you can as well take advantage of the remote which is included with the vacuum.
It actually comes in handy especially when your phone is no readily available or the Wi-Fi goes down. Like the app, the remote allows you to set a cleaning schedule and also select the cleaning modes.
The Ecovacs Ozmo 930 is a chatty robot too. It provides voice reporting to keep you constantly informed about its actual working status.
You will get audible alerts when it starts, pauses or completes the cleaning. It will even let you know when it’s suspended, relocating and charging. In short, as long as it has something to report, it will immediately announce it in real-time.
We were very impressed by the design and the build quality of this Ecovacs model. It looks stylish and feels very solid. The wheels are quite large and look a bit rugged, so you might want to avoid using it on very delicate wooden floors.
The pop-out handle makes it easy to carry the unit around the home. It’s very convenient, especially for multi-stories homes.
The vacuum requires some assembly when new but it doesn’t take more than 10 minutes. We found it easy to attach the brushes as well as to set up the mopping system.
You just detach the reservoir at the rear and fill it with water then connect the plate which has the mopping cloth. It’s not that complicated.
All the pieces and other accessories easily click into place but it’s quite different from traditional upright vacuums, so you will have to use the manual provided to ensure you get your head around everything.
The unit is 3.9 inches tall and 14 inches wide. It’s quite compact and won’t take up much space. That’s not all. It’s quiet in use, it never goes over 65dB which is pretty much the standard noise level of most robot vacuums.
Going through all the features we’ve highlighted in our Deebot Ozmo 930 review, you can tell that this is an advanced well-rounded robot vacuum.
However, nothing is perfect and the Ecovacs model does have some shortcomings that we believe are worth keeping in mind when going for it.
One of the main setbacks is that the unit does not feature dirt detect technology which is a very a handy function that allows the robot to identify dirty areas quickly such as high traffic areas that are concentrate with dirt.
With this feature in place, a robot vacuum works more efficiently with great results as it takes its time when dirtier cleaning areas.
There’s also no full bin indicator. The only alert you get is when it’s time for recharging and when the filter requires changing. For the dirt bin, you will have to keep an eye on it.
Another minor setback is that the Wi-Fi doesn’t run at a 5GHz, so it can take a few attempts to get connected to the vacuum.
With advanced features such as smart mapping, app, and smart home integration, and the fact that it can vacuum as well as a mop, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 930 no doubt does offer a very compelling package for the price.
It’s one of the few innovative robotic cleaners that can deliver reliable performance while still being highly convenient to use and operate. Not many other competing models in the market offer both vacuuming and mopping functions in one unit.
Concluding our Deebot Ozmo 930 review, we want to summarize: as much as it may lack some little handy features like dirt detect technology and full bin indicator, Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 930 is an amazing robot vacuum that we would certainly recommend.
