So, read on and find out more.

Eufy RoboVac 15C MAX review

Cleaning system

The first thing that stands out about this RoboVac 15C MAX is its 3-point cleaning system which is similar to that of 15C model but with better dirt collection capability.

Eufy RoboVac 15C MAX cleaning systemThe system consists of a rolling brush, a suction inlet, and a side brush. The three work effectively to clean all kinds of dirt from floors.

The brush roll which makes up the first point of the RoboVac’s 15C MAX cleaning system sits at the center and it’s the main cleaning tool of the vacuum. It works on stubborn stains and dirt.

The side brushes form the second point of the cleaning process and they are two, each on either side. They dislodge and as well sweep all the dirt and debris into the path of the vacuum so that they are easily extracted.

The final stage involves the suction inlet where the dirt and debris are sucked up during the cleaning process.

As we mentioned earlier, the suction strength of this 15C MAX model is one of the highest you will find in the market for a robot vacuum.

With 2000 Pa suction power, this unit can lift almost any dirt on its path with a single pass. It’s highly reliable when it comes to picking up dirt.

In short, the unit comes with an effective cleaning system and the great suction strength makes it even more powerful. It’s a versatile system that makes the vacuum ideal for different types of floors.

Performance on carpet

Brushroll

The cleaning performance of the RoboVac 15C MAX on carpets is wonderful and this mainly because of the brush roll underneath it. It has interlacing bristle strips which rotate and agitate the carpet thoroughly.

It even leaves a noticeable trail as it cleans and moves while sucking up the debris at the same. Combined with the two side brushes which also rotate, the unit does a pretty good job.

It’s able to dig deep into the carpet fibers, dislodge dirt and debris then gobble them up with much ease.

The side brushes work so well to sweep dirt from the edges of furniture and walls, plus Eufy has also included a squeegee-type cleaning blade made of rubber just next to the brush roll. It’s a little nice addition that helps ensure no debris or dirt is left behind.

Suction

A vacuum with good brushes requires good suction, and that’s where you are certainly going to appreciate most about this RoboVac.

The Eufy 15C MAX, which many call the Roomba alternative, comes with a suction power of 2000 Pa which is currently the strongest suction rating for a robot vacuum cleaner. This is what makes it very ideal for carpet cleaning including deep carpet cleaning. It can clear out the dust, dirt, and even crumbs.

Eufy 15C MAX

BoostIQ Technology

Another great piece of technology incorporated into this unit is the BoostIQ technology which makes it even more effective at vacuuming.

This technology comprises sensors which when the machine is moving from one surface to another, can detect the exact surface that it’s on and adjust the suction power according to that surface.

Therefore, when it moves from, for instance, tile floor to carpet, the system automatically raises the suction power within a matter of seconds.

Thus, it gets to perform deep cleaning and suck up every dirt from the carpet.

It’s a great technology which you don’t find easily in most similar models within the same price range. You get optimum suction power that guarantees the best clean and it makes using the machine even more hands-off.

Different suction modes

The best part about the RoboVac 15C MAX is that it features multiple suction power modes which include the BoostIQ technology.

There’s a standard mode that operates in the range of 1,000 to 2,000 Pa. it’s an ideal setting for general cleaning. Then there’s the MAX mode which delivers an optimum suction power of 2,000 Pa. This is the best mode for those that need more power for deeper clean.

The final one is the BoostIQ mode which allows the unit to automatically adjust the suction as needed switching between the Max and standard modes depending on the surface. It’s the ideal setting when it comes to vacuuming carpets or difference floor surfaces.

However, Eufy 15C MAX can only work so effectively on low to medium-pile carpers. It may not deliver the best clean when used on high-pile carpets.

Performance on hard floors

The RobotVac 15C MAX handles cleaning hard floors pretty well. The cleaner features two side brushes and in our testing, they did great work at agitating dust from the edges, corners and under thresholds.

The side brushes nicely sweep all the dirt towards the front of the main brush where they are sucked up from the floor into the dustbin with general ease.

The rubber squeegee-type cleaning blade next to the main brush is another nice addition that helps collect and move the dirt closer to the suction inlet for quick pick up.

It does not have a problem at all with lifting the dirt into the dustbin. The suction power is equally strong on hard floors as it is on carpets. The BoostIQ adjusts the temperature well which enables it to pick all kinds of dirt and debris from dust to bits and pieces of foods.

The two side brushes of the RoboVac 15C MAX will not scratch the surfaces of your walls or edges while cleaning them.

They have soft bristles that are quite gentle and ideal for cleaning the hardest floors both tiles and wooden floors. Eufy has even included several spare side brushes which is a big plus.

Eufy RoboVac 15C MAX robot vacuumThe best part is that the unit is not equipped with an LDS (Laser Distance Sensor) which tends to add bulk on most robot vacuums. For this reason, it has a very slim design. It’s only 2.85 inches tall which is quite short compared to other models.

The robot can slip underneath a lot of different things in the house like the couches, furniture, bed, and TV stand without any problems. Plus it has a decent climbing threshold.

It can go over different floor transitions as long as they are not over 0.63 inches tall which is pretty impressive if you happen to uneven floor surfaces. It will be able to clean every part of the floor without having you move stuff around.

Pet hair cleaning

Pet hair cleaning is also an area that the RoboVac 15C MAX really performs well. This is mainly due to super strong suction power which is ideal for removing pet hair.

Besides that, the rolling brush is another part that makes this unit quite good at dealing with pet hair. It’s able to dig deep into the carpet pile and expose pet hairs making it easy for the unit to pick them up.

However, the brush roll isn’t a tangle-free brush. Long hair will certainly get trap around it which means you will have to clean it frequently to keep it in good working condition.

Fortunately, it’s not that hard a process as they come off easy when you remove them by hand or using the cleaning tool which is included in the package. It has an integrated razor that makes it easy to detangle the hair.

Navigation

In this section of our Eufy RoboVac 15C MAX review, let’s see how the navigation system of this smart vacuum cleaner works.

The Eufy 15C MAX does not feature any navigation or mapping technology. However, the unit is equipped with over 10 infrared sensors around it which help to constantly be aware of its surrounding. It follows a random pattern but it does make its way around all areas of your home.

The sensors are anti-collision sensors and they detect furniture, ledges, and obstacles which help the robot to maneuver around without getting stuck. The random navigation makes it not ideal for bigger households but would do fine for smaller ones.

It might run into walls a little bit but it’s the infrared sensors that allow this to help it bump into the wall edges lightly before turning around. It does wiggle it’s way out of corners though without getting stuck.

The front part has a foam bumper that runs around it and serves to protect the infrared sensors as well as your furniture from getting damaged should it bump into them which is something that might do from time to time.

The good thing is that it won’t tumble down the stairs. The unit has three anti-drop sensors that are strategically placed on the bottom on either side of the unit just in front of the large caster wheels. They help detect drops hence preventing the machine from going or falling down the stairs.  The two large wheels at the back offer good traction on both carpets and hard floors while the small front wheel can rotate 360 degrees. It provides the machine with the necessary maneuverability needed to navigate around the cleaning space.

Complete control

One thing you will surely appreciate is how Eufy has strived to give users complete control over the robot vacuum as far as operating and controlling it is concerned. There are three different ways you can operate the vacuum which is quite convenient, to say the least.

Remote controller

The first one is running it with a remote controller which is included in the package. It’s quite easy because it has all the obvious buttons and functions to operate the vacuum.

With the remote, you can start/stop the machine, move it forward, backward, right and left, tell it to return home, adjust the suction power, and even switch between cleaning modes.

In short, you get to control almost every function of the vacuum from just the palms of your hands without much straining.

App control

You can control the Eufy 15C MAX from your smartphone as well through the EufyHome mobile app. The app is easy to use and understand.

You can use it to control the vacuum’s movements, schedule the cleaning, switch between cleaning modes and check the battery percentage of the machine, which is very useful. Moreover, it even keeps you alerted via a notification alert in case the vacuum gets stuck.

The app is compatible with both iOS and Android platforms, so if you the latest smartphone, then you won’t have any problems running the app.

In fact, the app makes setting cleaning schedules a lot easier. It allows you to customize the schedule from anyplace, anytime. You can set the time and schedule up to 7-days cleaning.

Voice control

If you have Google Home or Amazon Alexa, then you will be happy to know that the RoboVac 15C MAX would be compatible with your smart home system as it can connect with both of them.

This means you will have access to voice control services they offer which allows you to control the robot with just voice. Therefore, you get to accomplish your vacuuming needs without breaking a sweat.

All you have to do is to simply ask and the Robovac 15C MAX will automatically take care of the cleaning as you sit back and relax. Both the app and voice control will require a Wi-Fi connection in order to function.

Cleaning modes

To ensure efficiency and make your experience even more wonderful, Eufy has incorporated multiple cleaning modes into this RoboVac 15C MAX which you can pick based on your particular vacuuming needs.

You have four clean modes to play with which include:

  • auto cleaning,
  • quick cleaning,
  • spot cleaning,
  • edge cleaning.

Auto-cleaning allows you to schedule cleaning sessions where the vacuum will carry on the cleaning and determine when to dock or recharge when the battery is running low. So, you don’t have to worry about the robot.

If you don’t want the machine to vacuum for an extended period, then you have a quick cleaning mode which runs for only 30 minutes, then stops.

The third mode is spot cleaning which is ideal if you have a specific area that you need to clean like when you spill something. The vacuum will move in a spiral around the spill from the middle and work its way outward while sucking up all the spillage.

Edge cleaning is the final mode and this is meant for cleaning walls and edges. In this mode, the machine runs along walls for around 20 minutes and then returns to the base when done.

All these modes are accessible from your smartphone via the EufyHome app and they are also available on the remote control.

Dust bin and filtration system

At 600ml capacity, the dustbin of the 15C MAX is relatively small, but it can hold a good amount of dust, crumbs, hair, and anything else it can pick up along its path. It does so well to compress the collected dirt despite the small capacity.

Aside from the dustbin, the RoboVac 15C MAX has one of the best filtration systems you can find out there. It’s a triple filter system that uses a combination of high two-layer filters and a high-performance filter.

This combination increases the efficiency of the filter system which leads to better cleaning performance.

Eufy RoboVac 15C MAX filtration systemRemoving the filter and the bin is very easy as well since all it requires is a press of a button located at the rear of the unit. It draws both parts out at the same time.

The dust bin comes out easily for emptying while remaining sturdy enough such that it won’t explode in your hands.

The filters pull out easily too and you can wash and reuse them. An occasional pass with a brush at the filters can also help keep them clean and extend their lifespan. Even much better, Eufy has included an extra filter in the package, so you can change it when needed.

Battery runtime and charging

The RoboVac 15C MAX has a very powerful battery as well. On a single charge, it can go for up to 100 minutes which is enough time to cover a single floor or room.

However, one of the main drawbacks of this unit is that it takes too long to recharge. It can take up to 5 to 6 hours to get fully charged. The good thing though is that it’s a quality battery so you are guaranteed a long battery life.

The unit is designed to automatically dock and recharge itself. Unfortunately, it doesn’t resume cleaning once fully charged unless it’s in the auto mode.

The recharging happens via a charging dock which comes together with the vacuum and doubles up as the base station where the vacuum returns to before the battery runs flat.

There are no alignment issues either as the charging contact pins align correctly with the contact pins that are on the charging base.

Overall build quality

The RoboVac 15C MAX is a solid and well-built unit. It’s not a premium model but it’s made of good quality components. All Eufy replacement parts from the brushes to the filters to the wheels and the front bumper are solid and well made.

The tempered glass cover looks sleek but it’s anti-scratch and provides great protection to the vacuum. Powering on and off the machine has also been made easier as there is a dedicated power button underneath the unit. There’s also a Wi-Fi led indicator to show you the Wi-Fi status.

Noise level

While you will find very few floor robots out there that are completely silent, the 15C MAX offers a much quieter cleaning as it’s hardly noticeable when running around on standard mode.

It utilizes advanced brushless motor that significantly decreases vacuuming noise. It generates around 55dB of noise which is no louder than an average operating microwave. You would probably not even notice it’s there if you have your TV on.

However, the noise level might increase with the suction power mode you choose. The higher you pick, the louder it will get.

Efficiency

Finally, the power consumption rate of the 15C MAX is really impressive compared to most other units. It stands at 40W which is very low than that of the average 1000W vacuum cleaner.

The RoboVac 15C MAX can run for several hours a week yet still consume less electricity compared to what a 1000W cleaner can use up even if it was running for an hour a week.

Note that like the noise level, the energy it will consume will increase with an increase in the suction power. Therefore, the higher the suction mode you pick, the more energy it will use up.

Are there any setbacks?

One of the major setbacks about this Eufy vacuum is that it lacks any navigation or mapping technology. It follows a random pattern which makes it not ideal for larger households. It would do fine in small to medium-sized homes.

Unlike most other RoboVac models, the 15C MAX doesn’t feature a charging port that can allow you to charge it manually without having to use the base charging dock. It’s not a must-have feature, but it’s something that could come in handy.

Another noticeable downside is that there is not dirt detect sensors. However, the unit is equipped with BoostIQ technology which adjusts the suction power accordingly as soon as it detects a surface change.

Although the brushes aren’t tangle-free brushes, Eufy has included a cleaning tool in the package which helps to clear hair and debris from the brushes as well as the wheels.

Summing up our Eufy RoboVac 15C MAX review, one cannot deny the fact that this an incredible robot vacuum and perhaps the most powerful one on the market right now in terms of suction strength. We would not say that Eufy made an alternative to Roomba, but this model is clearly a Roomba competitor in the market of robotic floor cleaners. It’s effective, fast, efficient, and well designed.
