ILIFE V5S Pro Review

Robotic vacuums are more popular now than ever. We have high-tech companies producing some of the world’s greatest robot vacuums. And when we came across the ILIFE robot vacuum cleaners, we couldn’t help ourselves. The following is the ILIFE V5S Pro review. This is not one of the latest models, but it is still in high demand.

Why?

For example, this unit offers up to 2 hours of runtime. Keep in mind that many other vacuums only offer about 1 hour of runtime. And we’ve seen some that rush to the docking station after only 45 minutes. So with regards to battery life, the ILIFE V5S Pro has it all.

But what about the other features? Curious to know more? Read our review to find out more about this robot vacuum.

Features

At first sight, the ILIFE V5S Pro seems to be a simple vacuum. However, upon closer inspection of the features, you’ll learn that it is different from the rest. When we made this ILIFE V5S Pro robot vacuum cleaner review, we didn’t know what was coming. The product admittedly lacks certain features. But the absence of these features doesn’t make it futile.

The ILIFE V5S Pro has a battery life of 2.5 hours and a charging time of 4 hours. It features automatic redocking and recharging. As for the motor, it doesn’t use more than 22 watts of power. The ILIFE is a completely low-profile device, crawling easily under tables and upholstery. It features one main brush in the middle and two side brushes for edge cleaning. Unfortunately, the ILIFE can’t be used with virtual walls, especially magnetic tape. However, it has excellent mapping technology that sticks to the parameters of the room.

While you can’t connect it to Alexa or Google Assistant, you can use the remote control for many functions. One such function is shifting through the 4 operating modes, including scheduled and spot cleaning.

We’ve summarized all of these features and more in this ILIFE V5S Pro Review. Take a look.

Design and structure

The design of the ILIFE V5S Pro is simple and structured. The robot has a height of about 3 inches, which makes it a low profile. This low profile feature helps it clean under furniture and in crawlspaces. The V5S Pro also features a lightweight body, weighing only 4.9 pounds. The weight may vary depending on whether the water tank is full or not. The V5S Pro uses 2 side brushes to sweep up dust and debris from the sides. This comes especially handy when used near walls and crevices. Because this vacuum uses smart wall cleaning technology, the side brushes come especially in handy.

In comparison, many other robotic vacuums cannot clean under furniture or around table legs. They usually don’t have more than one side brush with smart wall and corner sweeping technology. ILIFE’s own patented technology makes the vacuum ten times better than borrowed technology. The components inside include a high capacity water tank, a mop holder, and a washable dust box. It also features smart sensors at the front and sides to help the ILIFE V5S Pro navigate through the room.

HEPA filter

In this section of our ILIFE V5S Pro review, we want to talk about the filtration system that this robot vacuum uses.

Over 59% of robotic vacuums use a HEPA filter. The High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) is a filter efficiency standard. Normally, mechanical air filtration devices are required to meet HEPA standards. Any filter that qualifies for HEPA must remove 99.95% of dust particles. This includes particles whose diameter is larger than 0.3 micrometers. And just like the 59% wise robot makers, ILIFE’s V5S Pro also uses a HEPA-approved filter. This filtration system is three-stage. It is made of fiberglass fibers that dust particles tend to stick to.

ILIFE V5S

Filters meeting this HEPA standard are proven to improve indoor air quality and reduce risks of asthma. Pulmonary and respiratory pose a huge issue when using indoor filters. ILIFE’s HEPA filter removes any and all allergens and viruses to keep you safe. And the best part is that the ILIFE V5S Pro comes with one additional filter. This is in case your previous filter becomes overused or faulty.

It is recommended to clean out the filter every 6 months or so. Especially if you have a lot of people in the room. For residential use such as in homes and offices, the filter can be changed every two years. Cleaning becomes easier with ILIFE’s washable bin and dust filter. You can clean the bin just like any other vacuum bin. And the filters are safe for reuse unless they are broken or overused.

Dust bin capacity

Dust bin capacity is a major feature of robotic vacuums that people always look at. Robotic vacuums, unlike the handheld manual type, don’t have enormous dust bags or bins. The dust bin capacity of robotic vacuums is reduced. The ILIFE V5S Pro can hold up to 300 ml of dust and debris. Compared to that, other brands mostly offer 250 ml of volume. So the ILIFE is great for small or medium rooms. But for larger rooms, you might have to empty the bin occasionally.

Unfortunately, the ILIFE V5S Pro does not feature a full dust bin indicator. This would’ve been pretty handy if it was included. In fact, the entire unit is short of indicator lights and alarms.

Cleaning modes

The ILIFE V5S Pro robot vacuum and mop cleaner use four simple cleaning modes. The first mode is the random Auto Clean. In this mode, the robot randomly cleans the place like it normally does. This includes edge and crawlspace cleaning. This mode also cleans around furniture legs and under tables and chairs. It’s a simple mode and there isn’t much to it. The second mode is spot cleaning. The vacuum will spiral around one single designated spot to get rid of that one stain. Some stains require more scrubbing, or perhaps you just want to use it for that one spot. Whatever the case, spot cleaning is a great choice for quick and discrete sweeping.

The third mode is known as Edge Clean and you can guess what it does. This mode is best when the vacuum comes near the walls or you want to clean the perimeter of the room. The smart sensors in the front will detect the walls and clean them alongside. The Auto Clean provides edge cleaning, but you can opt for this mode just to be safe.

The fourth is Scheduled Clean, which allows you to set the time you want to vacuum to clean. So you can go out or sleep while the V5S Pro does its job. The V5S Pro also has very quiet operation. The unit operates at just 50 dB, quiet enough for pets and children. You can enjoy a good night’s sleep without being disturbed by the loud operation.

Power output

ILIFE’s V5S Pro has a max suction power of 850 Pascals. This is slightly greater compared to other brands. But remember that this is the maximum suction power, and most modes operate lower than that. With higher suction capacity you can easily remove pet hair tangled in rugs or on carpeted floors. Unfortunately, the ILIFE V5S Pro does not include carpet boost technology. This technology lets the vacuum automatically detect a carpeted floor and enhance its suction power.

Even without that, the smart mapping sensors do a pretty good job of navigating the carpeted floor. We recommend using the ILIFE V5S Pro on low pile carpeted floors. As for bare floors, almost every type can be tackled by the V5S Pro. Tiled, marbled, concrete- the V5S Pro performs immensely on all of them. The ILIFE vacuum also sucks up pet hair and hard debris that would otherwise go unnoticed by other vacuums. Moreover, it picks up food crumbs and liquid substances, two of the hardest materials to sweep up.

The ILIFE operates very quietly, while the motor is more efficient than its predecessor. This makes mopping and sweeping way more effective than before. There are numerous other upgrades from the previous versions of the V5S Pro.

Mapping and sensors

With regard to mapping and navigation, the ILIFE V5S Pro falls short. It doesn’t use any highly advanced mapping technology. The sensors in the front are the same used in most modern vacuums. They are able to sense obstacles in front of the V5S Pro and guide the vacuum to avoid them. Obstacle navigation isn’t a challenging task for most vacuums, so it’s nothing too special. However, this unit does have smart carpet detection technology. It doesn’t feature a power boost though, which lets it suction more on carpets.

ILIFE V5S navigation

There are a few handy sensors on the side that help it clean around the perimeters of the room. This is the same technology that lets the V5S Pro vacuum around table legs and furniture. The one thing we do like though is the altitude sensors. These help the V5S Pro detect bump and drops.

The V5S Pro can cross over obstacles as small as 0.59 inches in height. This is actually pretty short, as it’s not even close to an inch. However, it’s perfect for jumping onto carpets and sensing minor obstacles. The drop/cliff sensor prevents the vacuum from falling down the stairs and injuring its components. It does not feature smart Dirt Detect, which lets it clean the dirtiest areas first.

IR remote control

The ILIFE V5S Pro robot vacuum is all about accessibility. Being able to control your vacuum using a remote controller is next-level technology. It uses IR sensitive receivers to work with remote control. Remote access means you can turn the vacuum on, power it off, reschedule cleaning, and much more. It allows you to also change the vacuum’s mode and settings. Other than that, the ILIFE V5S Pro doesn’t offer much with regards to remote access control.

Spot cleaning has become even easier with remote control. If you feel like the stain is harder to get rid of, you can quickly change the settings to Spot Clean. Edge cleaning also works better with remote control. You won’t have to manually change the settings of the ILIFE V5S Pro. However, edge cleaning isn’t compatible with magnetic tape or virtual walls. So if the V5S Pro isn’t cleaning the edges properly, you’ll have to manually guide it.

Voice control

Voice control is another feature that a lot of newer vacuums have. Unfortunately, the ILIFE V5S Pro vacuum remains behind on this. We didn’t find a voice control feature built-in with the V5S Pro. We weren’t able to guide the vacuum with our voice or change its settings. Luckily, the IR remote did most of the job. So we didn’t need voice control. But many people might need extra accessibility.

Alexa and Google connectivity

One of the biggest drawbacks of owning an ILIFE V5S Pro vacuum is the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity. While many, if not all, robots are connected to the Wi-Fi, the V5S Pro isn’t caught up on that. This unit does not feature internet connectivity and does not have a smartphone app. You can still use it with an IR remote control, but that’s mostly it. Smartphone connectivity lets you check in on the status of your vacuum from anywhere. It can also help to keep maintained schedules and to change settings.

Moreover, smartphone connectivity also means connectivity with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The ILIFE V5S Pro is not compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant. This is quite a disappointing drawback since most devices work with these. We love to have everything connected and monitored. So it came as a bit of a shock that the V5S Pro isn’t compatible with home assistants. The vacuum is still worth the shot, but it doesn’t come with all the features. The lack of Wi-Fi connectivity makes it a bad candidate for smart appliances. However, you can still use it as an old-school Roomba, so that’s a plus.

Battery and usage

The ILIFE V5S Pro uses a single Lithium-ion battery of 2600 mAh. This is similar to the battery used in some moderately old smartphones and vacuums. With the powerful battery and energy-efficient motor, the ILIFE is able to last 150 minutes. That’s for about 2 hours. This means that you can clean multiple rooms in one go. The ILIFE V5S Pro moves with speed and accuracy, so you can get more rooms cleaned in lesser time.

On the bad side, this robotic vacuum takes up to 280 minutes to recharge, or about 4 hours and 40 minutes. That’s a lot considering that you might run out of charge while cleaning. However, it is pretty consistent with the recharge time of other brands. Plus, if you’re in a hurry you dot need to fully recharge the unit. You’ll get one single Lithium-ion (AAA) battery inside the packaging. That, paired with the auto-recharge facility, makes for a tremendous vacuum experience.

The ILIFE V5S Pro Robotic Vacuum uses about 22 watts of power. The motor is much more efficient in this model than its predecessors. So the runtime is longer than other ILIFE products.

Automatic recharging

Automatic recharging refers to a chic new feature that only modern vacuums provide. In this, the vacuum will automatically rush to the charging dock when its battery is low. So you won’t have to worry about whether the ILIFE is charged or not. The unit features a battery percent indicator that lets you know how long the vacuum will last. Automatic recharging also works when the robot vacuum is done the cleaning. By the time to use it again, it will have a full charge and be ready for prolonged use.

This feature is one that sets the ILIFE V5S Pro apart from the others. It makes ILIFE more modern and futuristic. Sure, there are other features that are lacking in the V5S Pro. But we find that most of them are redundant. And automatic recharging is a great tool to customize your experience.

Accessories

A robotic vacuum that doesn’t come with everything you need is as good as nothing. Normally, you’ll be needing cleaning brushes, spare filters and bins, a user’s manual, and a warranty card. The ILIFE V5S Pro robotic vacuum comes with everything you need to get started. The box includes an elegant and brand new ILIFE V5S Pro robot vacuum unit. Along with that, you get a spare HEPA filter. This is in case the built-in one becomes unusable after some time. You do not get spare bins or mop holders. The docking station or charging base with the automatic recharging feature comes with the unit.

Along with that, the ILIFE comes with 2 side brushes to attach when cleaning around the edges. A mop and a single water tank are included, along with an AAA battery. For easier accessibility, the box contains a remote control and an adapter. The user’s manual is only in English. However, depending on where you live, you can find it in other languages as well.

With all of these accessories, one can easily get on to using the ILIFE V5S Pro at full potential. The batteries will run out in about 2 hours, and the docking station will charge for up to 4 hours. If anything seems amiss, refer to the user manual to troubleshoot and repair. We recommend getting the filter changed every 6 months if you’re in a commercial area. For homes and offices, a one or two-year filter replacement is a must.

Warranty policy

Now for the good part. The warranty period of the vacuum is what most of us really want to have. The ILIFE V5S Pro robot vacuum cleaner provides a warranty period of 12 months. This means that you can get filter replacements and component repairs for a whole year. The company offers free replacements and repairs under certain conditions.

Many companies will try to rip you off. Their warranties will expire before the product is due to break down. So you might only get a 6-month warranty on a product that takes 1 year to malfunction. This means that, as your product will expire, so will your warranty. However, ILIFE is true to its customers. Most robotic vacuum units tend to break down after only months of use. Faulty components and circuits can be easily fixed under the given warranty policy.

We hope you enjoyed the ILIFE V5S Pro review. Ask your questions or share your experience with this robotic vacuum cleaner.
