In this detailed Shark ION Robot 750 review, we are going to cover every aspect and every specification it is equipped with.

Shark ION Robot 750 review

Suction and cleaning power

Suction and cleaning power are by far the most important feature when it comes to vacuums whether they are upright or robot vacuums. This Shark ION Robot RV750 is equipped with two side brushes and the main brushroll to pick up and loosen up the debris on the floor. Once the debris is agitated by the brushed, the strong suction power of the vacuum sucks it up. The reason behind Shark ION Robot RV750’s high suction is the powerful airflow generated by the motor. The sucked debris, like every vacuum, is thrown into the dustbin that lies at the front of the vacuum.

The bristles of the vacuum brushes are also pretty significant when it comes to agitating the debris, picking up the debris and throwing it in the bin. Most of the time, the bristles themselves tangle the debris causing premature loss of suction and inefficiency. However, with Shark ION Robot 750 vacuum that is not the case since the brushrolls are arranged in a helix-like pattern and are high tensile. Thus, they not only efficiently pick up the debris but also are self-cleaning which means most of the debris doesn’t get tangled in the bristles. Apart from that, the side brushes have the variable-length for better debris picking.

Brushroll and side brushes

The dual side brushed, as mentioned, have variable lengths and are constructed to remove stubborn crumbs and dirt leaving a squeaky-clean floor behind. The side brushes don’t have suction air over them, they rotate in clockwise and anti-clockwise directions just to throw the debris in the center brushroll’s path. The main brushroll then picks up the debris. All this is literally done in milliseconds since the side brushes and the center brushroll moved rapidly.

Thanks to the detangling technology the brushes can even loosen up and detangle long strands of human hair, strings and pet hair. This also helps in the self-maintenance of the brushes.

Battery and working time

Since this Shark ION Robot 750 review is all about giving you the tiniest of details about the product under discussion. Most of the time, users don’t understand how batteries work and how the battery capacity will affect the daily routine of your robot vacuum. The larger the battery capacity, the higher is the working time, however, manufacturers cannot go very high since they have price and size restrictions. This Shark RV750 comes with a modest 2600 mAh battery which is smaller than what we see in most of the smartphones. Hence, the maximum expected run time is 60 minutes. In case you decide to spot cleaning or boost the power for a while, the battery time will reduce.

To completely charge the battery you need a little more than 2 hours since we don’t have a fast charging option in Shark ION Robot 750. The one hour run time is ideal for small to medium size houses and apartments but it can get impractical for large houses since you might have to charge your Shark ION Robot 750 twice or thrice during the process of cleaning. On one charge, the battery can clean approximately 1000 square feet area.

The best part about this vacuum is the battery light indicator. In most robot vacuums, we don’t have one which does not impact the overall working of the vacuum in any way but still gets inconvenient since we don’t know how much charging we are left with. As soon as the battery hits the low charging mark, the Shark ION Robot RV750 automatically docks itself into the docking station for charging.

Navigation

A robotic vacuum is only as good as its sensors. A vacuum with low quality and a low number of sensors will not be able to reach every corner of your house or apartment. However, when it comes to the Shark ION Robot 750 vacuum, the vacuum is loaded with proximity sensors, which allow the robot from hitting stuff and helps it avoid anything that comes in the way. These sensors are also responsible for navigating the robot away from cliffs and stairs to prevent breakages. Most importantly, these sensors help the robot vacuum to go back to the docking station in case the battery is low, or the cleaning is done with. Shark has dubbed the technology as ‘smart sensor navigation’. The newer vacuums are coming with ‘smart sensor navigation 2.0’, which has better overall technology.

Shark ION 720 robot vacuum cleanerThanks to these sensors, the robot can construct a virtual map of your house making the overall cleaning process more efficient. As a result, the robot moves around the apart or house in a semi-random manner trying to find dirty areas or pet hair lying around the house. However, since the robot does not come with a ‘smart sensor navigation 2.0’ it might get lost in a multi-room house and might not find its way back to the docking station. When we look at the Shark ION Robot price, these navigation systems seem ample since it does not dent your pocket.

For further control over how the robot operates, the Shark RV750 comes with a 9 feet long boundary strip and two bot boundary connectors. The strip can be cut and placed in places you don’t want your Shark ION Robot 750 vacuum to go. The bot boundary connectors are there to form angles for the no vacuum zone. This way you can keep your plush carpets safe and keep your robot vacuum from going to places where it can be stuck.

Filter

In vacuums, filter plays an important role since vacuums suck out the dirt; they have to throw out the air. Now, if the vacuum lacks a good filter, the air thrown out will be full of allergens, debris, dust, and even pet hair. Hence, ensuring proper high-quality filters in your vacuum is almost necessary. This Shark ION Robot 750 comes with top of the line HEPA filter that needs replacement after every few months. Since the filter is known to filter out all kinds of allergens, you will have a purified air post-cleaning session. The best part is this filter is not expensive either. Even if you change the filter every 2 months, it will not dent your pocket.

Dustbin maintenance and furniture clearance

Furniture clearance refers to the height of the vacuum cleaner. The vacuum is 2.6 inches tall; hence, any furniture with space more than that underneath it can get cleaned. In most cases, the Shark ION Robot 750 can easily move under the coffee tables, couches, mattress frames, beds, etc.

The best part about this vacuum cleaner is that it works ideally for all floor types, which includes tiles, marbles, hardwood floors, and carpets. However, as far as plush carpets are considered, the robot might not be able to clean them since it will most probably get stuck.

Diameter wise, the vacuum is 12.6 inches, which gives it a lot of space to clean up at a time; hence, the vacuum is able to clean up more space in less time making the most use of its low battery time.

The dustbin maintenance of this vacuum is very easy as well. Since it has a large capacity dustbin, you don’t have to clean it up all the time if you have a small to medium apartment or house. However, for large houses, you might have to remove the dustbin once or twice during the cleaning session. One of the downsides of this robot vacuum is a lack of full dustbin indicator but then, in most mid-range robot vacuums we don’t get these indicators.

Cleaning the dustbin is as simple as pressing the quick release tab and dumping it in the bin. Clean it with a washcloth and fix it back. You can also use the accessories that come with this vacuum to clean the bin and the bristles.

Wi-Fi connectivity

Shark ION Robot 750Wi-Fi connectivity is what makes this Shark ION Robot RV750 so reliable and convenient. For both, Apple and Android users, the vacuum cleaner comes with its dedicated application that can be installed via the provided QR code or you can use ‘SharkClean’ as the keyword to find it on Google Play Store or App Store. This application can be used to control different functions of your robot vacuum including scheduling.

The application can be used to start and stop cleaning sessions, you can send it to the charging dock, locate it, configure it for spot cleaning mode and whatnot.

The cleaning schedule can be customized based on day and night routines, you can set out different alerts, analyze the battery charge level.

Based on the Wi-Fi connectivity, the vacuum can also connect to Google Home and Amazon assistant for voice-controlled instructions.

Comparison: Shark ION 720 vs 750

Both of these robot vacuums share some amazing features and are pretty durable and sturdy, however, there are a few differences between Shark ION 720 and 750.

  1. The Shark ION 720 comes with an extra pair of brushes and an extra HEPA filter.
  2. The control options on R75 are much better than the 720.
  3. Size-wise both are the same hence; the cleaning area they can cover is the same.
  4. The 720 cannot connect to Wi-Fi and hence cannot connect to smart assistants.

Overall, both the vacuums are similar except a few tweaks here and there. The control options are the only big change we see.

Final thoughts

In this Shark ION Robot 750 review, we have tried to touch every important aspect of the robot vacuum since most of the consumers don’t understand what will benefit them and what will not benefit them. Overall, it is a reasonably spec-ed and a reasonable price robot vacuum. This robovac is ideal for anyone with a small to medium house or apartment. Shark ION Robot 750 has all the necessities and luxuries required in a robot vacuum.
